EuroParliament has supported the Eurocommission offer to declare 2009 Year of creativity and innovations.
When greeting the participants of the Expertise the First Vice-Prime Minister of Ukraine – Oleksandr Turchinov noted that the aspects that were placed in the centre of attention are closely related to strengthening competitiveness of Ukraine in the world, and pushing Ukraine to the frontiers of the general progress.

Landmark event for Ukraine – First National Innovation Forum «Ukrainian Innovation Doctrine»
First National Innovation Forum “Ukrainian Innovation Doctrine” took place on December 14-15, 2007 in Teacher’s House in Kiev, Ukraine. The Forum was initiated by a number of state agencies, scientific establishments, as well as representatives from the community. The idea of the Forum was supported by the Security Council of Ukraine, governmental institutions, representatives of political parties and business circles, scientists and researchers, international organizations, as well as important foreign experts.
The aim of the Forum was to define and connect various viewpoints, as well as unite efforts and resources from the government, business, scientific and educational institutions, industry, independent analytical centers and experts, and international community, with a goal to develop a common view of direction, principles, and mechanisms of Ukrainian innovation politics.
Partners of the Forum included Ukrainian representation of Telenor, European Business Organization, American Chamber of Commerce, informational agencies Interfax and ÓͲÀÍ, «Industrial Ukraine» magazine, Euroindex, Wireless Ukraine, Kyiv-Mohyla Business School, Ukrainian Association of Management Consultants, Ukrainian Union of Intellectual Property, Conference House.
A salutation from the Chairman of the Verhovna Rada of Ukraine was read to Forum participants. The following officials presented their views on innovation politics of Ukraine during the plenary session: Advisor to the President of Ukraine Oleksandr Zinchenko, Deputy Minister of Finance of Ukraine Tetyana Iefymenko, Rector of National Technical University «ÊP²» Myhaylo Zgurovs’kyi, Chairman of Ukrainian representation of Telenor Trond Moe, and international expert in the sphere of implementation of innovation systems Sergei Pereslegin. The round table «Strategic spectrum of innovation development of Ukraine» included the following speakers: head of International Center for Prospective Research Volodymyr Nikitin, professor of Kyiv National University for Building and Architechture Volodymyr Nudel’man, head of Innovation Development Department of the State Agency of Ukraine for Investment and Innovation Oleg Khymenko, head of Department for Innovations and Technology Transfer in the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine Viktor Shovkaluk, president of ÀÎÇÒ ÑÊ "Lemma" Sergiy Chernyshev, marketing director of ÀÁ «Diamantbank» Inna Sapak, rector of National Technical University "KP²" Leonid Tovazhnyans’kyi, vice-president of Ukrainian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Tetyana Stepankova, manager of project OLBIS Ò.M. Ivan Zakrevs’kyi, Chairman of the Center for Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer NAS of Ukraine Yuriy Kapitsa, Chairman of «Euroencyclopedia» Foundation Sergiy Pereslegin.
Moderators of the Forum were the head of International Institute for Urban and Regional Development Yuriy Chudnovskiy, Chairman of State Agency for Implementation of Branch Programs Anton Zatsepin, Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Building of Ukraine Oleksandr Kuzhel’, Assistant Director for National Institute of Strategic Research Valeriy Vorotin, Head of International Center of Prospective Research Volodymyr Nikitin, Research Manager of International Institute of Urban and Regional Development, Project manager for “Expert-Ukraine” Oleksandr Zlenko, doctor of the National Academy of State Management Oleg Boyko-Boychuk. The team of moderators also included observer for the “Dzerkalo tyzhnya” newspaper Oleksandr Rozhen and the president of Ukrainian Association of management consultants Igor Rogoshevs’kyi.
Forum participants reached a partnership agreement regarding innovation development. As foundation for the latter, the following documents were passed: declaration of partnership and resolution of ² National Innovation Forum «Ukrainian Innovation Doctrine».

As a result of our common work, the best propositions will be laid as foundation of “Ukrainian Innovation Doctrine”, which will define innovation strategy of the nation for the next 10 years, as well as possibilities for its continuation in the long-term future. Do not ignore the future of Ukraine.
